The Shore

Northern Ireland produces some amazing films thanks to the great work of Northern Ireland Screen. Game of Thrones, Cherrybomb, Killing Bono through to stunning shorts such as Even Gods the quality if always outstanding.

Tonight I re-watched “The Shore” that deservedly is picking up awards everywhere it is shown including an Oscar. The film features a brilliant cast including the brilliant Lalor Roddy.

The film is set in County Down but actually features a little beach we regularly visit that the masses are yet to find.

Filmed in Killough County Down The Shore, by Terry George is a stunning piece of narrative and cinematography.

The beach and surrounding area are a stunning foreground to the Mourne Mountain backdrop. The entire Killough area is breath taking from St John’s Point right through to Tyrella and beyond to Dundrum bay.
