Long Exposure Photography with the X-E2

Long Exposure : Dunluce

1 min read

I’ve come to realize that isn’t the long exposure photographs I actually enjoy it is the process. Heading to a location just in advance of ‘golden hour’ I carefully clean and set up my camera and the next hour is process of creative relaxation.

The process is multi-staged, picking the correct time of day, composing the shot to balance foreground, background and moving water. A delicate balance of shutter speed, aperture and ISO it is matter of painting with the ever-changing light to capture the desired image.

It is what I enjoy most about photography, it offers time to think and take in the landscape as the sun slowly sets. The process is detailed in the long exposure ebook, yes there is a process to learn but once you have learned the steps in capturing a long exposure image there isn’t a more relaxing form of photography.

Dunluce Castle County Antrim

Tonight’s outing featured the Fujifilm X-E2 with the 14mm prime lens. I love the Fujifilm range for landscape photography. So light you can carry two cameras and three lenses without issue, (as there is nothing worse than arriving and finding you have the wrong lens).

Safety First

I have said it before and will repeat it again, when shooting along the coast always be aware of the tide. It is easy to get engrossed in the photography and miss the time coming in.

Dunluce Castle

This was my second visit to Dunluce Castle on the Antrim Coast of Northern Ireland. My first visit was with the X-T1 and 10-24mm lens which unfortunately were not with me this trip. Click see additional photographs of Dunluce castle.
