Having cautiously taken the step into the world of drone photography it has been interesting to see locations from a completely different perspective. Although the thought of using the DJI Mavic Air to capture 4K video was the initial appeal I have to admit I am loving capturing still images from the sky; thus the creation of the DJI Mavic Air Lightroom Presets. New to drone flying my focus is on the flight and being safe in the air, therefore I haven’t quite managed to dig into the manual capture settings offered by the DJI Mavic Air…. yet.
My one tip for all cameras is to shoot RAW+JPG. If the JPG is fine you can ‘reject’ the RAW file in Lightroom but if you need to edit the RAW file is going to be the best starting point. The following two Lightroom presets have been designed for use with the DJI Mavic Air RAW DNG file shot in the auto settings. The presets will still work with other camera output but my primary usage has been for aerial photography.
DJI Mavic Air Lightroom Presets
The first of the two presets offers a muted, almost analogue appearance to the image. I have placed the SOOC shot along side the processed image for a comparison.
The second preset offers a more vivid, vibrant appearance to the image. Although this image was captured on a cold winter’s day the sun was bright and the image could pass as summer.
If you are new to processing images in Lightroom, there is a guide on how to install Lightroom presets contained in the useful Long Exposure Handbook.
Presets are downloaded and used at your own risk.
