I received a phone call on Saturday afternoon that Hilden Mill was on fire. The five story listed building that towered over the Lagan walk way was engulfed in flames.
The factory has been on the Hilden site for hundreds of years and it is a very sad demise. Once the hub of industrial Lisburn it once even housed its own fire brigade.
The main photo was taken during an exclusive photo visit to the Mill in Feb 2010.
Initial News Coverage
Concluding News Coverage
In 2010 I had exclusive access to the mill for a series of photo essays. The resulting photographs featured in a “Through the Mill” Photography exhibition in the Island Centre during October.

Hopefully they will be able to save the listed building but it was already in a state of disrepair in 2010, I dread to think what it is like now.
