I really consider the X100 as my everyday walk about camera. More and more as I adjust to working with a light weight camera I am considering if I really need a full frame digital SLR camera at all.
I decided to look at the performance of the X100 with traditional autumnal photographs and I am particularly impressed at just how the camera performed especially at apertures of F2.8 – f2.0.
I attempted to recreate the high level bokeh photography that I would normally produce with a 50mm lens at 1.4. It doesn’t quite match the performance of a nifty fifty as it is locked to 35mm and f2.0 but the results are not that bad for a compact camera.
The full set of X100 photographs can be found in a dedicated X100 flickr set here.
Looks like a very good camera. I never had one to play with, but your photos convinced me. 🙂
I have had several compact cameras and managed to get decent bokeh using them. Noting like my 50 1,8 though but not bad.
I looked at the X100 and turned it down for two reasons. One was because I couldn’t see where I was shooting, but I understand that this is something that one can adapt to.
The other reason was that the playback zoom in the LCD only zoomed a small amount – so it was impossible to tell whether one had landed a pin-sharp shot.
I would be interested in hearing your response on this because you obviously get good stuff out of the camera.
