I have been asked a number of times to develop a preset that offers a starting point for enhancing the drama in landscape photographs. The FlixelPix Binnian preset is the culmination of work processing a wide variety of Northern Ireland landscape photographs in Adobe Lightroom Photoshop.
This free Lightroom preset brings out the detail of an image and as you can see from the screen shot below also offers a little warming (this can be adjusted with the ‘white balance’ slider). This free Lightroom Preset should be seen as a starting point and you will note a number of graduated filters that you may wish to adjust according to the landscape you are processing.
You can adjust the ‘shadows’ and ‘highlights’ accordingly and I find adjusting the exposure can add some extra drama. The idea behind this Lightroom Preset is to create a muted landscape image while also retaining the clarity and detail. The image above was captured on Hare’s Gap. You can sense the scale of the scene by finding the lone walker making his way up the valley.
