Bangor Amusements

The light and highly portable Fujifilm FinePix X100 means I can carry a camera just about anywhere. No more standing out from the crowd lumbering a large dSLR and lens, no more carrying a large camera bag everywhere we go. The X100 allows high quality images from a camera no bigger than my hand.

The X100 is forcing me to shoot my shots manually, deciding on aperture and shutter speed before I press the button. I means having to think quick and guess the lighting conditions but it is a great way to learn.

I prefer my shots dark and then carry out whatever adjustments are needed in Lightroom. Somehow over exposed shots are more difficult to correct as the image information just isn’t there.

The weather was changeable so it offered a range of varied cloud cover than allowed for more dramatic shots especially at anything above f11.

Finally, there is no way I could be in such a vast open space and not play with the panoramic setting.

I have noticed some vertical banding appearing in some of the panoramas created by rapidly changing light levels.

A few more panoramas and X100 shots are available on flickr.
