Ocean Colour Scene

Ocean Colour Scene

Possibly my most challenging photo project to date as I embarked on shooting the brilliant Ocean Colour Scene in the Mandela Hall. OCS live performances are reputed and Belfast was no different and the event was certainly a learning experience with the rapidly changing lighting displays.

Ocean Colour Scene : Guitar

It is hard to be believe that Ocean Colour Scene will be celebrating their 21st anniversary next year. Having just released their ninth studio album entitled “Saturday” they have clocked up an impressive eleven Top 20 singles and five Top 10 albums during their illustrious career.

The Ocean Colour Scene story is already the stuff of musical legend; From their days as Breton-shirt wearing disciples of The Stone Roses (debut single ‘Sway’) to million selling Britpop superstars (‘Marchin’ Already’ bumped Oasis’ ‘Be Here Now’ from the top spot in 1997) to long-term touring allies with Paul Weller, their story is inseparable from the greats of modern British rock.

From a photography point of view I juggled the technicalities of low light shooting at the cost of framing and composition. Tweaking ISO, metering modes and shutter speed during the three song photo slot had a cost. I am learning though.
