The holiday break is a good opportunity to update FlixelPix with some of the various photography projects that took place during the Autumn months. In September Getty Music (Keith and Kristyn Getty) returned home to Northern Ireland for a series of concerts and workshops based in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.
The ‘Facing a Task Unfinished’ tour saw the Getty Music team combine their creative talents with both Stuart Townend the New Irish Choir and Orchestra in a three night run of concerts.
It was a great privilege to work with Getty Music again, after starting out as their guitarist I am most definitely more comfortable behind the camera capturing the often breathtaking talent of one of Northern Ireland’s finest musical teams.
I captured both the Saturday workshop and final night celebration in the Waterfront Hall using two X-Pro2 cameras. Bouncing between the Fujinon 16-55mm and 50-140mm lenses I was able to document the day from a non-distracting distance. The class Fujifilm dynamic range and colour documented the night in cinematic quality with the JPG images (straight from camera) requiring literally zero adjustment.
‘Facing a Task Unfinished‘ is the latest album from pre-eminent modern hymn writers, Keith and Kristyn Getty. The album, which champions congregational singing and mission, follows the radical example of the hymn “Facing a Task Unfinished” rewritten from its original 1931 version, where its urgent call propelled individuals, families and churches to global witness.
This studio album features the Getty’s band, live congregational singing, and fresh global sounds as well as guest appearances by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Fernando Ortega, John Patitucci, Chris Tomlin, and artists from around the world.
I have known Keith for many years, partnered with Kristyn they created a distinguished catalog of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing genres by connecting the world of traditional and classical composition with contemporary and globally-accessible melodies. Keith and Kristyn Getty are two individually talented musicians who combined are a music tour de force writing hymns that are sung the world over.
