Sweets & Nuts Galore

Sweets & Nuts Galore

If there was one word to sum up our visit to St George’s and the Continental market today it would have to be ‘sweets’. We tried then all and the cost on reflection was incredible. The problem is you never really know how much you are spending until the bags are weighed and money is demanded. There were the long laces priced at “approximately £1.50″ each.

The Turkish Delight stall was like a magnet at which we sampled ten completely different flavours of Turkish delight including “Earl Grey” which in hindsight was disgusting but it was impossible to deny one of each flavour.

The fudge stand was where the real financial damage took place. A massive selection of literally dozens of flavours and the stuff is heavy ! It really is difficult to justify  ten pounds worth of fudge but there was no mechanism to return it.

To balance things just a little bit we visited the largest collect on nuts I think I have ever seen. Strangely these too were flavoured and it was really quite easy to decline a sample of cheese and smoked nuts.

Within thirty minutes of leaving the market I can safely say our forty pounds of junk food was well and truly history. There are a few more photos in a new Flickr Set.
