I think I might have a strange fascination for a tree across the field. As I look through my photo library it has ‘grown’ into a common theme captured in each of the four seasons and from a range of different angles.
The reason the tree appears as one of my most common subjects can simply explained by the fact I frequently it as a test subject for new lenses, cameras and techniques simply down to its easy accessibility. For this reason I think the tree needs a bit of a dedication with its very own blog post.
This photo was taken early in the evening as a thunderstorm brewed overhead. The view across the field featured an almost perfect contrast between light and dark.

Recently I have also been playing with a new piece of iPhone software called Hipstamatic (you can read a review of the application here).
The software replicates the classic compact camera of the 1907s and 80s and offers direct sharing via Email, Facebook and Flickr.
As usual ‘My Tree’ was a test subject (click the image to see the large view). It is actually a really impressive application if you want to share photos with a little bit of processing rather than straight from the camera. The results are actually quite stunning at times (view a few more samples here).
This post has been quite a liberation. I have felt a little guilty hiding my fascination for this tree away in my photo library for so long and if you think that sounds a little weird I think you should remember the future King of England allegedly talks to trees. I think I have some way to go ?

I think I want to get an iPhone just for the Hipstamtic app.
I have a tree like that too! Here’s mine…
