Distant Flood

Distant Flood

I thought I had better take a photo that captured the severity of weather brought by the first week of summer. The normally contained, slow moving Lagan river appears like a lake along side the Down Royal Racecourse. Edgeless in its expanse it wouldn’t take much more rain for it to invade the roads.

This photograph was taken at around 4pm, it was sunny but the clouds were dense causing patches of complete obscurity of light. Under the clouds though you could see for miles, it is the colour and distance that attracted me to this photo.

I think when you see the same sky in monotone you get a better sense of just how heavy the clouds sat above the flooded river.

We can only hope this is the end of the snow and hail and brighter times are around the corner.
